When NYC-based interior design studio Perifio took on the renovation of an 800-square-foot Upper West Side apartment, they were tasked with balancing pre-war character and modern comfort, all within a tight footprint. It was their first Manhattan project - and one that came with structural overhauls, 20-foot ceilings, and the pressure to make every inch count.

Storage was a major challenge. “Basically, there was none,” says co-founder Matt Bidgoli. Custom millwork became the solution, with multifunctional pieces like an upholstered dining banquette that doubled as storage. A statement green kitchen became the heart of the home, while a lofted bedroom and bathroom required clever joinery and a serious eye for proportion.
