SketchUp 3D models now live inside Programa
Programa
Programa
Updated: 22 October 2024

Programa’s new SketchUp integration lets designers share models directly inside their Client Dashboards without leaving the platform. That means no more toggling between tools, no more sending files manually, and no more explaining specs without spatial context.

Design intent stays intact. Clients get clarity. And your workflow becomes a whole lot smoother.

What’s New

  • SketchUp models can now be embedded in Client Dashboards
  • View and share 3D walkthroughs alongside specs, schedules, and selections
  • Control how and when clients view your models
  • No file uploads - just a simple share link from Trimble Connect

This feature is available to all SketchUp users. If you don’t have a Programa account, you can now sign up using your Trimble Connect login.

Why it Matters

Designers have always had to manage two disconnected layers: one for visualising space (SketchUp), and several others for studio management, specifications, budgets, and timelines... This integration removes that gap.

Now your clients can walk the model, see the selections, and approve - all in one place.

No exporting. No stitching tools together. Just one unified, spatial workflow.

How to Share Your SketchUp Model

Step 1 – Add a SketchUp Model

Go to your Projects tab in Programa. Select a project. Click the ‘+’ icon and choose SketchUp Model.

Step 2 – Choose Your Model

Log into your Trimble Connect account. Select the model you want to share. Enable link sharing and copy the public URL.

Step 3 – Paste the URL in Programa

Return to Programa. Paste the copied URL into the ‘SketchUp Share URL’ field. Add a model name, then click Add.

Step 4 – Share with Your Client

Once the model loads, click Share in the top-right corner. Choose to publish to your Client Dashboard or via Public Link.

Viewing in the Client Dashboard

Clients can now interact with your model directly from their dashboard - no downloads or plugins required. They’ll receive either a direct access link or an email notification with viewing instructions.

Models are viewable on both desktop and mobile browsers.

Pro Tips

  • Set up custom scenes in SketchUp before sharing. Your clients will only see the views you’ve curated.
  • Use ‘Publish to Client Dashboard’ to keep everything centralised in one place—model, specs, feedback.

FAQs

No. Models must be published to Trimble Connect first. Upload the model, enable link sharing, then paste the URL in Programa.

Check that link sharing is enabled in Trimble Connect, and that the model has fully synced. The share URL must be public.

No. Clients can view and interact with the model, but editing and downloading is disabled.

Yes - models over a certain size may load slowly. We recommend compressing unused geometry or textures where possible.

SketchUp Models Now Live Inside Programa

Connect your 3D designs with project documentation in one platform. Interior designers and architects can now share SketchUp models directly in client dashboards.

SketchUp Integration for Design Studios

Programa's SketchUp integration brings 3D models and project management together. Interior designers and architects no longer switch between platforms to present designs, share specifications, or gather approvals.

Link your SketchUp model once. Clients view it alongside FF&E schedules, material selections, budgets, and timelines - all in Programa's Client Dashboard.

How Interior Designers Use SketchUp with Programa

Design studios manage two critical layers: spatial design in SketchUp and project documentation in Programa. This integration connects them.

Your SketchUp scenes become interactive presentations. Clients walk through their future space while reviewing:

  • Furniture specifications and costs

  • Material and finish selections

  • Lighting schedules with exact placements

  • Millwork details in context

  • Real measurements and clearances

No exports. No file transfers. Just one link from Trimble Connect to Programa.

Benefits for Architecture and Interior Design Firms

Client Understanding When clients see that $4,200 sofa in the actual room - not a spreadsheet - they understand scale, proportion, and value immediately.

Faster Approvals Studios report 40% faster sign-offs when clients review products in spatial context. Questions drop. Confidence increases.

Trade Coordination Contractors see exactly where each specification belongs. Visual installation guides reduce costly errors.

Design Control Set specific scenes. Control navigation boundaries. Guide clients through your intended experience - not random wall interiors.

Setting Up SketchUp in Programa
