The project tackles the challenges inherent in terrace renovations, including narrow sites and double-height party walls, with a focus on injecting light deep into the home's footprint. By employing the principles of 'inverted living', we've elevated living spaces onto the first floor to maximize natural light, ventilation, and valuable aspect to the north and south.

This renovation reflects society's growing demand for aspirational design in residential architecture, offering flexible, layered spaces that adapt to the client's lifestyle. Undulating floorplates and ceiling forms create a sense of compression and expansion, celebrating the interplay between lightness and darkness.

In response to the client's desire for outdoor spaces, we've introduced lush gardens on each level, respecting the neighbors' amenity while providing sheltered backdrops to internal living areas and city views from a new roof deck.

Despite the site's physical limitations, our collaboration with structural engineers ensured a holistic design solution that meets passive principles. The highlight of the project is the 5-meter wide boundary-to-boundary, double-height board-form concrete ceiling on the first level, seamlessly integrating structural elements within sleek joinery and window frames.
